A football team is like a piano. You need eight men to carry it and three who can play the damn thing." Shankly

I opet ovo "celu ekipu cinio boljom"???

Pullen Has Always Played Against The Best
February 10, 2011
Editor's Note: The following feature was provided to Big12Sports.com by Clark Wilson of the University of Oklahoma - a participant in the 2010 Big 12 College Communications Clinic, held in conjunction with Big 12 Basketball Media Days.
Throughout Jacob Pullen's basketball career there have been few challenges he couldn't overcome.
Growing up just outside of Chicago, Pullen competed with the likes of Derrick Rose (Memphis) and Evan Turner (Ohio State). Living in the shadows of the two former All-Americans helped fuel Pullen's desire to improve.
"There were always people that were supposed to be better than me," said Pullen. "Derrick was always number one or ranked top ten in the country growing up, so, yeah, it has given me a reason to stay motivated and work to become what I am."
Pullen played at Proviso East High School which has a legacy of producing talented players such as NBA alumni including Doc Rivers, Jim Brewer, Michael Finley and Shannon Brown, currently with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Being named Big 12 Preseason of the Year was the product of his junior campaign, one of the most decorated seasons for a player in Kansas State history. It was also the product of playing for Frank Martin, a coach who demands much out of his players and has never cut Pullen any slack.
"His work ethic is what makes him such a special person," Martin said. "As a coach, a teacher, or parent that's what we all strive for. He doesn't run away from challenges, he is very receptive to instruction because he wants to work to try to be the best."
When Pullen signed with the Kansas State program he was 16 years old. The maturing process on and off the court wasn't easy for Pullen but his relationship with Martin has continued to evolve.
"Being around him the last three years I couldn't be more proud of the way he has grown," Martin said. "Now he's put himself in a situation where he conducts himself like a young man and he's embraced the role that he's been given with this year's team."
Early in his career, Pullen had his share of struggles as he tried to adjust to college basketball and how Martin wanted him to play. His sophomore year, Pullen had one of the worst games of his career. He missed 11 of 13 shots and had nine turnovers at Oregon.
"I was real hard on him leading up to that game and after that game and he didn't run away from that," said Martin. "He's made it a point to do everything in his power to prevent from having that kind of experience again and I enjoy being around people like that."
Pullen is in the Top 10 in 12 different career categories, and is in the top five for seven different categories. Starting with last year's NCAA Tournament run to the Elite Eight and heading into this season, he has established himself as The Man for the Wildcats.
"I love the fact that he makes so many big shots for Kansas State," Texas coach Rick Barnes said. "He makes them at tough times. As an opposing coach, I love the way he has grown. He's very tough to defend and he can make some tough shots and he makes them at very tough times in the game."
The challenges that Pullen faces night in and night out aren't any different than what he has seen before. It's something that he is accustomed to and he has no plans of running away from challenges.
"I've dealt with them my whole life, I've always been challenged, I've got older brothers and they would always challenge me with whatever sport it was," said Pullen. "And if you lost they made sure you knew you lost.
"You get to the point where you've got to win and when Frank (Martin) challenged me my first thought was that I would prove him wrong. That's how our relationship has been, he challenges me and I respond with showing him how I can do it."

Pogledao sam taj klip makar 20 puta u zivotu.
