Well...
I'm still really disappointed. The key for Novak was- reduce unforced errors on minimum...and he didn't manage it. He made 75 (!!!) unforced errors which is 30 more than Rafa. And that's really not the right way to win, Novak:-(
BUT....he managed to make a five-setter even when not playing his best.
1st set- very important set which gives a player huge advantage...Nadal grabbed it
2nd set- not a good start for Novak, losing his serve....but still managed to grab the set 6-3! Great, my hope was still alive...
3rd set- disaster. Novak lost serve by the mistake of the judge (the ball was IN!!!!) and wasn't able to forget it and go on with playing... totally resigned. He was lucky not to be bageled. URghhhh
4th set- The most important set- now or never! And Novak did it, made it to the tiebreak and gave me a huuuge hope. Managed to win the tiebreak and looked really confident.
5th set- I was thinking it would be extremely difficult position for Novak because Nadal was the one serving first = the one holding a huge advantage. Novak broke his serve and managed to hold his own till...the EXTREME error when he touched the net after smashing ball and gave Rafa a chance to rebreak. I was insane at that moment :-D, really...it almost looked like a fate or something! And Novak was obviously in complete shock. Well that's where the match was decided. THAT MOMENT!!! After that it was a question of time...Novak was in the worse position- had to be completely concentrated on his serve because he could give matchballs to Nadal...and he eventually did- even 3 in a row! What a gift :-(
Well I was convinced before the match that Novak has a better serve and better backhand than Rafa...and he really does but in that match it wasn't the case! Rafa served better and totally shocked Novak with some of his BH shots. Especially in the second half of the 5th set, he was unstoppable. Well I congratulate him because he really played GREAT and I didn't expect him to play like that since he wasn't really convincing in the matches before (against Brands, Klizan, Fognini)...but still think that Novak CAN PLAY BETTER and surely has a chance at Roland Garros in the next years.
Good luck, Novak!!!
