Report: Titans preparing a visit for Manning
NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Titans are "preparing a visit" for free agent Peyton Manning "in the next day or two."
No further details are available, nor is whether Manning has reciprocated the Titans' interest. Whereas meddlesome 90-year-old owner Bud Adams wants Peyton badly, Tennessee officials are opposed to the pursuit of Manning after bringing along No. 8 overall draft pick Jake Locker slowly as a rookie. Locker is now ready to start, so the Titans' plan would be for naught if they signed Manning. Some may argue that a Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers-type scenario could continue to work in Locker's favor. More truthfully, Rodgers learned little to nothing from "developing" behind Favre. Rodgers' arm did get stronger through early-career strength work. Locker, of course, doesn't need any more strength.
