AC Milan Target Carlos Tevez
AC MILAN have stepped up their interest in Carlos Tevez.
The Italian giants are desperate to land a big name striker in January to replace Antonio Cassano.
Cassano is out for six months after undergoing successful minor heart surgery.
The injury means that Milan will step up their attempts to sign a world class striker in the new year - with Tevez top of their list.
City boss Mancini accused Tevez of refusing to go on as a second-half substitute during the 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena.
Tevez denied the allegations but was still suspended for two weeks and fined £400,000 after a club investigation decided he had refused to warm up.
Mancini insisted at the time Tevez was finished at the club and would never play for him again.
The Argentinian has been forced to train on his own since completing his ban, with the Blues expected to flog him in a cut-price £20m deal in January.
But Blues boss Mancini has admitted he would forgive Tevez – if he agreed to apologise to him and his team-mates.
The climbdown will stun City fans, who have turned their back on their former captain and talisman.
But Mancini insists Tevez can still have a future with the Premier League leaders. He says he told him this three weeks ago when he invited the player to his Cheshire mansion for talks aimed at clearing the air.
Mancini said: “We can all make mistakes, but it’s important we apologise.
“I always apologised as a player – every time. I told Carlos this 20 days ago.
“I think it is one of the easiest words to say. It is very easy to say sorry. But he needs to do it first.
“I don’t want it to be like this and I would be the first to forgive him. Everything depends on Carlos. If he apologises to me and the squad then everything will be as before.”
