What does the CPO actually own?
It is one of the persistent myths of the CPO (probably understandable because of its name) that the CPO only owns the Stamford Bridge pitch. In fact, as well as the pitch it owns the land upon which the stands and certain other developments are built upon. The Land Registry represents the land owned by the CPO as follows (the two small blue boxes are provided for service access and can be ignored):

Thus you can see that the CPO owns the freehold of the land that the pitch and the four stands sit on. However, the CPO’s freehold excludes ownership of the land that both the hotels and the Chelsea Club Gym/Museum development are built upon and the access routes around the ground.
