    Dear supporter,

    It’s great to be writing to you again with the season now upon us.

    I’m absolutely delighted the Premier League is back. When you’re involved in the best league in the world, you feel the edge and anticipation that comes with a big game like ours tomorrow, but as well as that, I’m also very excited and very proud to be going into the season as head coach of Newcastle United.

    We have already learned a lot during pre-season and that will continue over 90 minutes tomorrow against strong opposition. When you’re new to a club, you are working with your team for the first time in a league environment and it’s a very different type of pressure and intensity to pre-season. Whatever happens, we won’t be too carried away or too despondent in the dressing room.

    As I’ve mentioned before, a new philosophy and a new style take time to evolve but I hope you will see the character and commitment you expect from the off. Each match over the first ten-game period will give us a real indication of where we are as a club and what we can accomplish this season and from there, we will continue to assess and develop.

    The players are key to it all and I’m happy with what I see in the dressing room, both in terms of technical ability and attitude. We have a talented squad of players here and in Gini Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrović and Chancel Mbemba, we have three top class additions to the first team which we plan to build on across a number of transfer windows. We have been patient so far and that will continue to have its rewards.

    As well as new players, I was delighted that Fabricio Coloccini renewed his commitment to the club by signing a contract extension this week. I wanted Colo to stay here as captain and importantly, so did he. He has the respect of the coaching staff and his teammates in the dressing room, both as a player and as a leader.

    Captains can lead teams in different ways. Some are vocal, they can be in players’ faces. Colo leads through his stature and the respect he has right across the club. When he does choose to speak, he has impact. He is usually very perceptive and he speaks with the benefit of tremendous experience.

    To retain that is great news. It will be very positive for our younger players and will also help our new players.

    They will all be in for a test tomorrow. Southampton were the surprise team in the Premier League last season and they will give us a tough first game but I’ll be happy to be in the home dugout rather than the away one.

    I know that with your backing, St. James’ Park can be a wonderful place to be while also being a very, very difficult place to come for visiting clubs and their players. I’ve been in that away dugout and have seen it for myself.

    We must turn St. James’ Park back into a fortress this season and I hope we can play our part in that by giving you something to sing about and something to rally behind, starting tomorrow. I look forward to seeing and hearing you all alongside us.

      TRANSFER POLITIKA NIJE PROMENjENA

      Avgust je iracionalan mesec. U tom mesecu, kada cirkus počinje ispočetka a svi klubovi startuju sa nulom, sve deluje moguće. Jer, zašto ne bi bilo? Lopta je okrugla i ostali bakrači. Činjenica je, međutim, da jedini klub u Premier League koji me zanima još uvek nema pokriće za euforiju. Pa bila ova i avgustovska.

      Svi pričaju o tome kako se Newcastle pojačao. Da, prelazni rok je bio odličan, ali samo u odnosu na prethodne, kada je 6 miliona funti bio maksimum koji je klub želeo da plati, ili kada nije dovođen apsolutno niko. Politika štedi-krpi-nadaj se najboljem je i dovela jedan od najvećih klubova u Engleskoj u sramotnu poziciju borbe za opstanak. Sada su stigla tri igrača – Wijnaldum, Mitrović i Mbemba, na koje su potrošene solidne pare, plus prethodne godine parafirani Darlow i Lascelles. Obećavajuće. Ali nedovoljno.

      Naime, Newcastle zapravo još uvek nije promenio transfer politiku, koliko god ovo trošenje ukazivalo na suprotno. Sa ovim igračima klub je dovođen u vezu i daleko pre nego što je Steve McClaren postao trener. Dakle, dovedeni su igrači za koje je klub zaključio da ih dobija po fer ceni koja će rasti što bi omogućilo dalji profit. Tendencija da se trener na engleskom naziva head coach umesto uobičajenog manager je u ovom slučaju više nego tačna. McClaren je tu samo da pokuša da dovedeno integriše u ekipu najbolje što ume, i to na način da obezbedi svakom dovoljno vremena u igri kako ne bi narušio “resale value”.

      Takva politika proizvela je direktno još jedan vrišteći minus “najboljeg prelaznog roka”. Iako je Newcastleu bio potreban kompletan remont odbrane, NUFC je doveo samo dva štopera, od kojih će jedan služiti i kao zamena za desnog beka, a drugi je imao vrlo lošu sezonu iza sebe. Dakle, utility man, koje ovaj klub izuzetno ceni jer ne mora da plaća dva igrača, i mlada nada koja još uvek ne pokazuje znake da će postati veliki igrač. Nedovoljno. Newcastle će se, ukoliko ne dovede još barem jednog defanzivca, što ne deluje da će se desiti do kraja meseca, opet naći u poziciji da će mu štoperski tandem činiti nepouzdani Steven Taylor i nedovoljno dobri Williamson, što je odbrana koja ispada iz lige.

      Trošenje novca na tri igrača sa nesumnjivim potencijalom je svakako dobar znak, ali navijači Newcastlea su, naviknuti na višegodišnja poniženja u transfer rokovima, izgubili iz vida koliko se zapravo novca troši na kvalitet u Premier League. Zapravo, ovo je prvi transfer rok u kom je Newcastle bio konkurentan u trošenju sa realno manjim klubovima. Swansea je doveo Ayewa i Edera, Watford Vydru, Capouea, Nyoma i Behramija, a Sunderland Coatesa, Kaboula i Lensa. U Premier League se pare troše kako bi klubovi napredovali, a Newcastle je to tek počeo da radi. I plašim se da neće nastaviti.

      No, u celoj priči ima i dobrih strana, a to je nesumnjivi potencijal koji ima ova ekipa, koja će od ove sezone raditi sa novim trenerom, koji će, možda, doneti novu viziju igre i uspeti da iskoristi neke od igrača koji nisu uspeli da pokažu šta umeju. Aleksandar Mitrović je staromodna “devetka” koje nije bilo u klubu još od penzionisanja Shearera, Wijnaldum je čak i u lošoj predsezoni pokazao da će biti jedan od motora ekipe i konačno ćemo moći da vidimo šta to zapravo ume Siem De Jong.

      Držimo palčeve i navijajmo, kao što bismo i da klub nikoga nije doveo. Još jedna sezona je pred nama.

          PO BOD I SVRAKAMA I SVECIMA NA ST JAMES' PARK-u

          NEWCASTLE UNITED - SOUTHAMPTON 2 : 2


          Newcastle United i Southampton remizirali su na St James' Park-u rezultatom 2:2.

          Uprkos dobroj igri Newcastle United-a u prvih dvadesetak minuta igre, gde je Wijnaldum imao dobru priliku da postigne gol i gde je jedan igrač gostiju Yoshida u svom šesnaestercu igrao rukom a sudija Craig Pawson nije svirao prenal za domaće, Southampton prvi dolazi do vođstva u 24. minutu, kada je Graziano Pellè posle odličnog centaršutra sa desnog boka sa pet metara glavom lako matirao Krul-a za 1:0.

          Newcastle United stiže do 1:1 u 42. minutu. Strelac je bio Papiss Cisse, koji je sa jednog metra šmekerski grudima ubacio loptu u praznu mrežu. Sa levog boka centrirao je Haidara, lopta je zakačila Mane-a i u čudnom luku preletela golmana Svetaca Stekelenburg-a, pravo na grudi Cisse-u, kojem nije bilo teško da postigne gol.

          Čim je drugo poluvreme počelo, prvu priliku za gol imali su gosti kada je Maya Yoshida sa pet metara glavom šutirao ka golu domaćih, ali Krul se istakao, jer je nogom loptu izbacio u korner.

          Upravo posle tog kornera, Svrake prave kontru po desnom boku. Prelep centaršut uputio je Obertan, pravo na glavu Georginio Wijnaldum-u, koji sa desetak metara glavom loptu šalje u mrežu gostiju, za 2:1, minut 48. Gol na debiju u Premier League za Wijnaldum-a.

          Posle povrede Vurnon Anita-e u igru je ušao prepotentni i previše samouvereni Cheik Tiote. Nedugo zatim u igru su ušli i Aleksandar Mitrović i Siem De Jong.

          Aleksandar Mitrović je posle samo 11 sekundi igre dobio žuti karton zbog divljačkog starta na jednog igrača Southampton-a. Mogao je mirne duše i crveni karton da dobije.

          Southapmton je na 2:2 izjednačio u 79. minutu, kada je Shane Long glavom zatresao mrežu Krul-a, posle odličnog centaršuta sa desnog boka.

          Do kraja meča, Mane je u dva navrata mogao da se upiše u strelce. Jednom mu je Jack Colback izblokirao udarac, dok je u drugoj prilici šutirao pored gola sa šesnaest metara.



          Konačan rezultat: 2 : 2

              U drugoj rundi Capital One Cup-a, Newcastle United će na svom St James' Park-u snage odmeriti sa ekipom iz League Two, Northampton Town.

              Meč se igra ili u utorak 25. avgusta ili u sredu 26. avgusta 2015. godine.

                LABUDOVI LAKO IZAŠLI NA KRAJ SA SVRAKAMA

                SWANSEA CITY - NEWCASTLE UNITED 2 : 0


                Danas na Liberty stadionu Swansea City je sa pola gasa pobedio Newcastle United rezultatom 2:0.

                Prvi gol na meču postigao je Bafetimbi Gomis već u 9. minutu utakmice, kada je vešto izbegao ofsajd zamku, i lako matirao Krul-a za 1:0. Asistenciju upisuje danas odlični Jonjo Shelvey.

                U 41. minutu utakmice zbog drugog žutog kartona, odnosno crvenog, igru je napustio Daryl Janmaat. Nećemo ga gledati na Old Trafford-u protiv Man United-a. Nešto slično Janmaat je uradio i prošle sezone protiv Leicester-a u gostima.

                Na nesreću, Moussa Sissoko je povredio primicač i morao je igru da napusti već na poluvremenu.

                U drugom poluvremenu na 2:0 povisio je Andre Ayew udarcem glavom sa pet metara u 52. minutu utakmice. Ayew je u skoku nadvisio Coloccini-a.

                Dva minuta kasnije, McClaren iz igre izvlači anonimusa Cisse-a, ubacivši u igru Aarons-a, koji nije mogao da pretrči ni svoju senku. U tim trenucima Svrake su igrale bez napadača. Kako će McClaren to da nam objasni?

                Tokom meča Krul-ov okvir gola se tresao još dva puta, tako da je poraz mogao biti i ubedljiviji.

                Aleksandar Mitrović je na teren ušao u poslednjih desetak minuta igre. Već posle dva minuta igre dobio je žuti karton zbog koškanja sa levim bekom Swansea Taylor-om. Umalo da dobije i crveni karton, jer se jedan igrač Swansea žalio da je popio lakat od Mitrovića. Za tih desetak minuta igre, Mitrović je pokazao više nego ceo tim u prethodnih osamdeset minuta igre.

                Novi trener, stari problemi. Evidentno je da nam treba jedan dobar levi bek, jer je Haidara kanal. Treba nam kreativni vezni igrač koji će da stvara šanse i treba nam još jedan centralni defanzivac, ali o njemu možemo samo da maštamo. Jedan bod iz dva meča nije katastrofa ali očekuje nas veoma težak raspored u nastavku prvenstva. Za utehu, na tabeli smo trenutno ispred šampiona Chelsea koji takođe iz dva meča ima samo jedan bod, ali sa lošijom gol razlikom od nas. Sledećeg vikenda putujemo na Old Trafford na meč protiv Man U.

                  REMY CABELLA POTPISAO ZA OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE (POZAJMICA)

                  Vezni igrač Newcastle United-a Remy Cabella otišao je na jednogodišnju pozajmicu u Francusku ekipu Olympique de Marseille. U slučaju da Cabella zadovolji Francuze, u ugovoru stoji klauzula, da sa njim mogu potpisati ugovor na permanentnoj bazi.

                  Dakle, posle samo jedne blede sezone u Newcastle United-u, Remy Cabella gotovo da je završio sa Svrakama

                    FLORIAN THAUVIN POTPISAO ZA NEWCASTLE UNITED

                    Peto ovogodišnje pojačanje Newcastle United-a je Florian Thauvin, koji je doveden iz Francuske eikpe Olympique de Marseille. Thauvin ima svega 22. godine i u Newcastle United-u će nositi dres sa brojem 20, koji je prošle godine nosio Remy Cabella, koji je otišao u suprotnom smeru.

                    Florian Thauvin je sa Svrakama potpisao petogodišnji ugovor. Newcastle United je za njegove usluge platio 12 miliona funti.

                            MEHDI ABEID POTPISAO ZA PANATHINAIKOS

                            Vezni igrač Newcastle United-a Mehdi Abeid otišao je u grčki klub Panathinaikos. Abeid je za Zelene potpisao trogodišnji ugovor. Suma koju je Newcastle United dobio, nije objavljena.

                            Abeid, srećno u daljoj fudbalskoj karijeri.

                                ZALAGANjEM DO BODA NA OLD TRAFFORD-u

                                MANCHESTER UNITED - NEWCASTLE UNITED 0 : 0


                                Danas je na Old Trafford-u, svaki igrač koji je nastupao za Newcastle United dao 110% sebe i ginuvši na terenu, pokazao kako se bori za klub, za boje kluba i za grb kluba na dresu. Momci su herojskom igrom remizirali sa Manchester United-om rezultatom 0:0.

                                U prvom delu igre Manchester United je dominirao, stvarao šanse, gde je Rooney-u poništen gol zbog ofsajda, već u četvrtom minutu utakmice. Juan Mata je nešto kasnije testirao Krul-a, ali ovaj je bio siguran.

                                Sa druge strane, Aleksandar Mitrović je glavom pogodio prečku gola domaćih.

                                U nastavku igre, domaći su u nekoliko navrata bili blizu da dođu do gola. Prvi dobru priliku imao je Hernandez, ali mu je Krul nogom odbranio udarac, dok je drugu priliku imao Smalling, koji je posle kornera glavom pogodio stativu Krul-ovog gola. U dva navrata igrači Newcastle United-a su blokom uspeli da sačuvaju svoju mrežu.

                                Newcastle United je imao jedan vrlo dobar kontra napad, gde je rezervista Papiss Cisse šutirao pored gola domaćih, dok je debitant Florian Thauvin bi kratak na toj lopti za dužinu nogta na palcu.

                                Odlična igra na terenu svih igrača u belim dresovima. Treba pohvaliti igru u odbrani Ayoze Perez-a, kao i Coloccini-a. Posle tri meča imamo dva boda i nalazimo se na 17. mestu na tabeli Premier League. Ako ovako nastavimo sa igrama, nema bojazni za ovu sezonu. Sledeće subote dočekujemo Arsenal.
