  • Izgleda da je ovo neki nezgodan datum

    Yannick Cochennec ‏@YCochennec 45s
Remember that June 26 2002 Sampras n°6 (Bastl), Agassi n°3 (Srichaphan), Safin n°2 (O Rochus) lost on same day in 2nd R. Also a crazy day

Here's the most remarkable thing to me about Federer: Seems to me that the more you know about tennis, the more amazed you are by the guy. If you know nothing at all about tennis, he's amazing. If you know a little something about tennis—maybe you have played a few times in your life—he's more amazing. If you know a little more about tennis—maybe you played in high school and once had illusions of becoming a pro—he's even MORE amazing. And if you were a great player—if you are a McEnroe or a Connors or a Jim Courier—then Federer is preposterously amazing

Zato svi uglavnom i ispadaju odmah posle jedne velike senzacije.

Pablo Sandoval: A guy can change anything.. his face, his home, his family, his girlfriend, his religion, his God.
But there's one thing he can't change... he can't change his passion.

            • Nekoliko zanimljivih podataka
With thanks to the stats magicians at the ITF, there follows some Fed facts about that quite unbelievable loss...

              Fact One
This is his earliest defeat at Wimbledon since losing in the first round to Mario Ancic in 2002.

              Fact Two
This is his earliest defeat at a Slam since losing in the first round at 2003 Roland Garros to Luis Horna.

              Fact Three
This ends Federer’s run of 36 consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final appearances (starting at Wimbledon 2004).

              Fact Four
Stakhovsky is the world No.116. Federer hasn't lost to a lower-ranked player at any other event since losing to Mario Ancic here in 2002.

              Fact Five
This is the earliest defeat for a defending Wimbledon champion since 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt lost to Ivo Karlovic in the first round in 2003.

Roger Federer will drop to at least No. 5 in the rankings after the tournament. He hasn't been out of the top four since before he won his first Grand Slam title here in 2003. If Tomas Berdych wins the title here, Federer will drop to No.6.

This is the first time neither Federer nor Nadal has made the third round of a Grand Slam they both played in.

“It's no accident, I think, that tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love, the basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature. Points become games become sets become tournaments, and it's all so tightly connected that any point can become the turning point. It reminds me of the way seconds become minutes become hours, and any hour can be our finest. Or darkest. It's our choice.”
