Here's the most remarkable thing to me about Federer: Seems to me that the more you know about tennis, the more amazed you are by the guy. If you know nothing at all about tennis, he's amazing. If you know a little something about tennis—maybe you have played a few times in your life—he's more amazing. If you know a little more about tennis—maybe you played in high school and once had illusions of becoming a pro—he's even MORE amazing. And if you were a great player—if you are a McEnroe or a Connors or a Jim Courier—then Federer is preposterously amazing

Pancho Gonzales. O svemu možemo pričati, ali kada neko promijeni bazična pravila sporta usljed prevelike dominacije, to je svojevrsni uspjeh i iznad toga se ne može.
Govorio sam već jednom, zamislite da su Rafi ograničavali Top spin na duplo manje obrtaja s ciljem da mu se ublaži dominacija na šljaci prethodnih godina. To bi bio ekvivalent onome što su Panchu radili da bi ga skinuli sa trona.
CYGS jeste veliki uspjeh, ali budimo realni, ono što se cijeni kod tog dostignuća, pored konstantno visokog nivoa igre tokom čitave sezone potrebnog da se uzmu sva 4 Slama, jesu all round/court sposobnosti prilagođavanja drugačijim uslovima. Laver je ispunio prvi uslov, ali drugi nije, jer su čak 3 od 4 Slama bili osvojeni na travi. To ipak umanjuje pomenuti uspjeh.
Najvažnije, mislim, odnosno tvrdim da je Laver mnogo hypovaniji od Pancha, prema kome se ni Ameri nisu odnosili onako kako jedan takav igrač zaslužuje da bude tretiran, mahom zbog njegovog Meksičkog porijekla. Ja cu definitivno ostati uzdrzana, na strani sam Lejverazbog svega sto je uradio u karijeri, a i zbog toga kako se sada ponasa i kakve izjave daje, strasno mi je drag dekica
