Slabo pratim mlade igrace, hvala ti na informacijama

A vidim i da si bas lepo editovao post, znas vrlo dobro na sta sam mislio. Lejton pre 20. rodjendana nije uradio skoro nista, to je sve sto sam hteo da kazem

zavisi sa kime poredis to "nista"!

hjuit do 20. rodjendana - br6, 7 atp titula (i jos 4 finala), finale mastersa, SF slema, slem titula u dublu, finale slema u mixu.

cini se daleko vise nego bilo ko od aktuelnih ispod 20-ogodisnjaka!

(aktuelni klinci ispod 20 svi zajedno nemaju ni jednu atp titulu (cak ni finale), coricevo 33. mjesto je najbolji plasman koji je neko od njih imao a na vecim turnirima niko nema neki ozbiljniji rezultat, tesko da imaju i na ovim turnirima 250).

PS. i ne znam na sta mislis s tim editom, posljednja izmjena u postu sa hjuitom i tih 20 godina u zagradi mi je bila u 4 a tvoj komentar na nju u pola 5.

irelevantno da li je kroz cijelu karijeru ili prije 20. postigao koliko i ovi ... ukazivao sam na to da se cesto sasvim pogresno sportisti (a narocito teniseri) sa 30 ili blizu 30im smatraju starima a to su u stvari trenutno najbolje godine (prosjek top5 i top10 igraca je oko 29,5 a slicno je i sa top100, mozda tek nesto ispod). kako vidimo i statisticki i svakako. poenta je bilo da je fizicka (i mentalna) sprema sve vaznija i da sam talenat ne prolazi kako je to mogao prije. hjuit kao najmladji br1 i te kako se uklapa u pricu a pogotovo jer to i nije bilo bas tako davno (nema ni 15 godina) sto je bio jos veci razlog da ga se navede. od tada se tenis ubrzano razvijao a teniseri su (narocito u posljednjim godinama trojac rafa-fed-nole) gurali jedan drugoga da se i fizicki i psihicki natrimaju do nevjerovatne spreme. trenutno su 28-30 u stvari top godine.

The what I love about these tennis players, man, I get older and … so do they.

It’s no secret that the game of professional tennis has skewed older in recent years, with Roger Federer and Serena Williams staying at the top of their games into their mid-30s, teenagers hardly making a dent on the ATP and women frequently breaking into the WTA’s top 10 around age 28, almost double the age when such breakouts used to happen.

In the days of Chrissie Evert, Tracy Austin, Steffi Graf and Monica Seles, it was routine for girls who didn’t have their driver’s license to occupy spots in the top 10. Men always tended to skew older, but still had young stars, such as Boris Becker winning Wimbledon at 17 and, somewhat recently, Rafael Nadal winning the French Open at age 19.

Men’s Facts

1. In 1992 the average age of the men’s top 10 was 23.2 years.

In 2002 it was 24.5 years.

In 2015 it’s 28.6 years.

2. In the latest rankings, only one player (24-year-old Milos Raonic) is younger than the average age from just 13 years ago.

3. On the men’s side, there have been 10 teenage Grand Slam winners (including multiple winners such as Boris Becker and Mats Wilander). Right now there are just four teenagers in the top 100 and the furthest any of them has gotten in a Grand Slam is to the third round. Half of those players either have zero or one wins in a major.

4. There is one teenager currently in the top 75. There were six players ranked that high 30 years ago, including two in the top 10.

5. On the flip side, there were three players over the age of 28 in the top 40 back in 1985. This year, 18 of the top 25 are that old and 24 of the top 40 are over 28.

6. In 1995, the highest ranked 32-year-old man was No. 124 in the world and only eight men of that age were ranked in the top 500. Right now, 18 players that old are ranked higher than No. 124, including five in the top 25 (and the world No. 3, Federer)

7. As recently as a decade ago, there were seven players aged 32 or above in the top 100. The 20th ranked player who was 32+ was ranked No. 676. Today, there are 12 players in the top 100 and the 20th ranked player that old is No. 192.

8. Of the 20 youngest Grand Slam winners, only five have won that major since 2005. The last teenager to win one was Rafael Nadal, who turned 19 while winning the 2005 French Open.

9. In 1992 the average age of the women’s top 10 was 21.7 years.

In 2002 it was 22.0 years.

In 2014 it’s 25.9 years.

10. In the latest rankings, only one player (21-year-old Garbine Muguruza) is younger than the average age of top 10ers from 2002.

11. Serena Williams became the oldest woman to ever win a Grand Slam when she took the title at Wimbledon and of course, she shows precisely zero signs of slowing down.

12. In 1990, half the women in the year-end top 10 were teenagers during that season. Currently, there are only three teenagers in the top 100.

13. Also in 1990, 20 women in the top 30 were under 23 years old. Currently, there are six players in the top 30 who are younger than 23.

14. Eight women have won Grand Slams before turning 19. This year, there is only one such teenager ranked in the entire top 150 (Ana Konjuh at No. 81).

15. This year, there are 15 women over 30 in the top 100. In 2000, there were two such women.

16. This one’s insane: In 2012 — just three years ago — there were three women over 32 in the top 100. This year there are eight.

17. Five of the seven oldest women to win their first Grand Slam have won it in the past decade. Of the 19 youngest women to win their first Slam, only one (Ana Ivanovic at age 20) has done that in the past 10 years.

Okay, so now that we’ve established the old is the new young, what is it? What’s making tennis players get better later and stay better when players from a decade ago were already retired?

It’s a question with a number of answers, all that probably contribute in one way or another. Could it be the combination of added power in the sport (the serve-and-volley is mostly dead), aided by racquet and string technology? Do training methods and diet help keep the top players healthier and in better shape? Has recovery — a key component when trying to win a match a day or seven matches in two weeks — become more of a science and something taken more seriously by players?

Whatever it is, the sport has never been older. Next month, Serena Williams will attempt to both tie Steffi Graf’s record of 22 Grand Slams while becoming the first player since Graf to win the calendar Slam. She’ll be doing that all at age 33.

By the time she was 33, Graf, who twice played Serena, had already been retired for three years.

PS... samo da napisem primjedbu da je prosjek godina otprilike 0,5 godina veci sada nego je navedeno jer je ovaj ko je pisao text racunao sa punim godinama igraca i izracunao prosjek top10 recimo na 28,6 (racunajuci npr noletu i mareju 28 iako oni imaju recimo 28,25 ... berdih za manje od mjesec puni godinu pa nije 29 nego 29,9, cilic isto narednog mjeseca puni a do kraja godine ce i kei i milos da napune godine tako da je stvarni prosjek vjerovatno nekih punih 29 ili 29,1).

ako gledamo samo rezultate iz 2015. godine, prosjek godina je jos franpatniji.

top4 igraca za ovu godinu su u prosjeku preko 30 (mozda 30,5) a tu nekih 30 godina je PROSJEK za top10 sa rejsa!

(sve ovo pisem jer je odomaceno razmisljanje da su igraci oko 30. dede i da se maximum dostize sa nekih 24 godine i da igac sa 30 tesko moze biti bolji nego kada je imao nekih 24, a u top10 na rejsu su svi stariji od 25 a na ulaznoj listi samo raonic na br10 nije napunio 25, tj jos uvjek ima 24 godine).

Some observations:

* Djokovic is simply the best at coming from behind against his fellow Big 4 members, doing it 8 times in the Finals is mighty impressive while only once getting reeled in a final by Nadal at, what else, but Phillip Chatrier..It is quite clear that since 2011, Djokovic has displaced Nadal as the tour's best 'distance' match player..

* Federer is your quintessential frontrunner and that dates back well into his prime/peak years..He literally has close to no prayer to win especially vs Nadal/Djokovic if he doesn't win the 1st set; the reverse is true when it comes to his two major career rivals.

* Nadal's winning 1st set vs Federer/Murray/Djokovic at a Slam almost always means it's curtains for them unless maybe when he chokes one a BH in the open court..

* Murray, you better win the 1st set against Djokovic, because that's when you know you got at least a chance in hell against him.

Ovako je do sada izgledala prica juniorskog sampiona Vimbldona koji igra pod zastavom najvece teniske nacije, e onda zamislite kakav je to horor za nekoga iz Rumunije, Indije ili Kolumbije

Vjeruj mi da sam svojevremeno toliko žarko želio da neko iskoči iz te generacije, ali van šljake je to bilo toliko neubjedljivo da mi je bilo mučno gledati. Sjećam se da sam u finalu Roland Garrosa 1997. navijao za Brugueru jer nijesam znao koliko Kuerten ima godina. Kad ga je Guga pomeo sa terena komentator Eurosporta (vjerovatno Mercer) reče kako ima 20 godina i odmah nakon toga sam ga pratio misleći da može nešto i na tvrdoj podlozi. Otrežnjenje je stiglo nekoliko mjeseci kasnije kad je izgubio finale Montreala od Chrisa Woodruffa. Gledao sam meč na Eurosportu i činilo se kako je Woodruff čudo od igrača, a mislim da više nijesam gledao ni jedan njegov meč koliko je bio značajan.
Drugi udarac za mene je stigao kad je Korda preslišao Riosa u finalu Australian Opena 1998.
Dakle, sve se svodi na šljaku osim tog Australian Opena Kafeljnikova. Henmanu je falio bolji servis, a Philippoussisu bolje ostalo. Thomas Johansson je apsolutni incident i nije nikada bio kalibar za išta ozbiljnije, mnogo više je bio njegov imenjak Enqvist, a i njemu je to finale puna kapa.

O generaciji 1997, 1998, 1999 ne treba ni trošti riječi. Mlade njemačke nade Kiefer (čiji sam bio navijač) i Haas nikad nijesu bili ništa više od prolaznog naoblačenja i nikad nijesu bili materijal za Grand Slam. Jesu veće od Johanssona, ali to je bar bilo lako. I kad imamo van šljake skromne generacije '74, '75, '76 i nedovoljno kvalitetne '77, '78, '79, onda je nadolazećoj bilo lakše da zagospodari, u prvom redu Safin i Hewitt, a onda i ostali. Masters Cup 2003 je najbolji pokazatelj kad su izostali obojica zbog prethodnih povreda zbog kojih su gubili bodove, a pet od osam igrača su bili godišta '80 (J.C. Ferrero), '81 (Federer) i '82 (Roddick, Nalbandian i Coria). Sad provjerih da je i 2002. bilo četiri igrača godišta '80 i '81. Koliko su samo bili nadmoćni...

To da, Henman, Johanson, Filipusis i Salken su uradili nesto van sljake, ali sta raditi protiv divova rodjenih izmedju 1970-72 a bas iz te 1976. smo imali cak sestoricu GS finalista, to cemo tesko skorije videti, jednostavno se potrefilo. Moracu na kraju sezone da azuriram ovu analizu, ovo je sve zakljucno sa 2012.
