    • James Blake to Play Legg Mason Tennis Classic

James Blake is returning to the Legg Mason Tennis Classic presented by GEICO in 2011. Blake, the 2002 champion and 2005 runner-up, earned the first of his 10 ATP singles titles at the 2002 Legg Mason Tennis Classic, upsetting top-seeded Andre Agassi in the semifinals. Blake reached the final again in 2005, where he fell to three-time champion Andy Roddick.

The former Harvard star was the top-ranked American in 2006, reaching a career-high of No. 4 in the world, but has been plagued by injuries in recent years. Blake’s tennis career has seen many setbacks, including scoliosis, fractured vertebrae, and the loss of his father to cancer.

Blake’s addition to the 2011 Legg Mason Tennis Classic further strengthens an already competitive field including world No. 10 Mardy Fish, No. 11 Andy Roddick, No. 15 Viktor Troicki of Serbia, Sam Querrey and John Isner, 2010 runner-up Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt and Canada’s rising star Milos Raonic – have committed to play in the 2011 Legg Mason Tennis Classic presented by GEICO.

Here's the most remarkable thing to me about Federer: Seems to me that the more you know about tennis, the more amazed you are by the guy. If you know nothing at all about tennis, he's amazing. If you know a little something about tennis—maybe you have played a few times in your life—he's more amazing. If you know a little more about tennis—maybe you played in high school and once had illusions of becoming a pro—he's even MORE amazing. And if you were a great player—if you are a McEnroe or a Connors or a Jim Courier—then Federer is preposterously amazing

      • Li Na's Roland Garros win watched by 116M in China

LONDON (AP)—The WTA says Li Na was watched by 116 million TV viewers in China when she won the country’s first Grand Slam singles title at the French Open.

The 29-year-old Li beat defending champion Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 7-6 (0) in Paris on Saturday.

WTA chairman Stacey Allaster says the 116 million-audience is the highest for a tennis match in China and is a “fantastic sign for the continued growth potential of women’s tennis in China.”

Citing figures from state broadcaster CCTV, the WTA says the previous highest Chinese TV audience for a sporting event this year was when 60 million viewers saw Li lose to Belgium’s Kim Clijsters in the Australian Open final in January.

No, dobro.

Listen: I dare say Nadal really is a lovely man (though I refuse to say lad). But the point I’m trying to make is, whether he is or isn’t I wouldn’t know, and you wouldn’t either. He lives within this tight stockade of team Rafa, and sticks to the script his minders have written for him. It must require great discipline to be so controlled, but then it must require great discipline to be a world champion anyway.

                        • And the tennis player he most admires is Björn Borg, whom he admires precisely because he had “ice in his veins”, which was what always made him so deadly dull to watch. But Borg, we might note, retired at 26, not from injury but because he was burnt out. All that discipline must take its toll on a young man.

                              • Vimbldon: Blejk menja Matjea
