Keni zna
Kenny Dalglish on Arsenal: It's Gunner to take a great team to stop them
Signing wonderful Ozil has lifted Wenger, the other players and the fans - and they are where they are despite a grim run of injuries
I never took any notice of the 'Wenger Out' brigade at Arsenal.
It was easy to understand why some of their fans were frustrated by their manager’s reticence in the transfer market.
But the way *everybody is praising him now, it looks like Arsene Wenger has wiped the slate clean with the signing of Mesut Ozil.
Ozil’s a wonderful player to watch.
He seems like a decent lad, too, not the sort to come in and start *upsetting people.
With the football education he has had, he will not be one to shirk his responsibilities when it comes to tracking back either.
His arrival seems to have changed everything, but we’ll find out how good the Gunners really are in a few weeks’ time.
Like everyone else, I’ve been very impressed with them at the start of this season.
Arsenal were superb against Napoli in the Champions League this week.
Napoli are a fine side. They’re second in Serie A. They haven’t lost a game. So that was a very good win.
But apart from Spurs, Wenger’s side hasn’t played any of the leading clubs so far.
Their position probably looks better for that. They have also been helped by the other top teams taking points off each other.
A few weeks from now, in the space of a *fortnight, they will play four games that will allow us to see what they’re made of:
Chelsea in the Capital One Cup.
Liverpool in the league.
Borussia *Dortmund away in the Champions League.
Manchester United away in the league.
That run will tell us whether they are realistic contenders for the top honours this season.
Many people are saying (Look everyone, here's Brian Reade's view on Arsenal! - Ed) they will fall away after that sequence of matches when their squad gets stretched.
I’m not so sure.
Their squad’s not that thin when you look at it. And they are where they are despite a grim run of injuries.
They have been without Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski.
Thomas Vermaelen has always seemed like a pretty useful defender to me and he can’t even get in the team at the moment.
Mathieu Flamini is doing a good job as a holding midfielder, Aaron Ramsey looks like he’s back to his best and Jack Wilshere will get fitter with every game.
And then there’s Ozil.
When a player of his quality joins a club, it is bound to give everyone a lift.
That includes the fans, obviously. And you can see that’s what has happened at Arsenal.
They got a lot of criticism when they missed out on Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez but maybe if they had signed one of them, they wouldn’t have been able to go for the Real Madrid playmaker.
It looked as though they might implode when they lost to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.
But they didn’t.
They bounced right back.
So they have mental strength, too.
The rest are going to have to work hard to knock them off their perch.

“I really like Arsenal. But you, yes, you. Do you really like Arsenal? Or just Arsenal with trophies?”
Come on you Gunners!
