Novi tim u KHL- Slovan Bratislava

Slovan would be a worthy new addition to the ranks of the KHL if only for its followers’ boundless passion for the game. Even though we are still at the height of summer, HC Slovan Bratislava’s game last Tuesday against SKA Saint Petersburg drew to the Slovnaft Arena a crowd of almost eight thousand – for a preseason friendly! And among that crowd was a certain Ivan Gasparovic – President of the Republic of Slovakia, no less.

“I won’t say right now exactly who was the first to say that Slovan should play in the KHL,” says Alexei Yashkin, executive director at the Bratislava club. “It was a joint decision by those in charge of the team, and one which was supported at the very highest level. We believe this step will provide a valuable stimulus for the progress and development of hockey in Slovakia. The matches will arouse huge interest among the fans, and competing in the KHL will enable the club to build the right business model.”

It is true that in the domestic championship Slovan could draw a full house maybe five or six times a year for games against its bigger rivals, from Kosice, Skalica, or Zvolen, but there was a thirst for greater things. And now that the club has hit the big time, thousands of season tickets have been snapped up in the first few days of sale; indeed, Slovan could even emulate Amur Khabarovsk and sell as many season tickets as there are seats in the stadium – and the Slovnaft arena holds 10,000.

For the all-important post of head coach, the club has put its trust in Rostislav Cada. Last year he was sent packing from Omsk, even though his Avangard team was riding high in third place in the Eastern Conference and its defense was the joint best in the league along with that of Traktor. In fact, it was a shootout defeat at the hands of Traktor which brought about a premature end to the Slovak specialist’s three-year contract.

“The team has become far too cautious and ineffective in offense, and the problem has clearly spread to all three lines without exception. We can’t be confident any more about the outcome of a match.” When these words were aired on the local TV by Leonid Polezhayev, Governor of Omsk Region, Cada’s fate was sealed.

“Rostislav is an experienced coach who has worked in Slovakia and in the KHL,” said Alexei Yashkin. “We know him to be an open, straightforward and honest man; I think he’ll find a common language with the players, and just as importantly, with the owners of the club. He is a very demanding professional and that’s the kind we need.”

Cada’s playing philosophy is based, first and foremost, on iron discipline. And while many in Omsk may have criticized him for concentrating too hard on defense to the detriment of offense, Rostislav is unlikely to hear such complaints repeated in Bratislava. The coach’s beloved tactic was implemented in that exhibition match against SKA and it passed the test with flying colors.

“We’re putting a decent team together here, and if we get into the play-offs it will be great,” said Slovan forward Roman Kukumberg. The Bratislava-born veteran knows a thing or two about success in the KHL, having tasted Gagarin Cup glory with Ak Bars in 2010. “I worked with Cada a few seasons ago and was impressed by the kind of hockey his teams play. During his time in Omsk I think he got to know the playing style of the teams in the KHL. He knows how to play against them, so we’ll become formidable opponents. In many of my former teams, both in Russia and Slovakia, we had to endure very long training sessions, maybe two or two-and-a-half hours. I’ve never liked them. With Cada the sessions are shorter but very intensive, and this adds to the pleasure of working with him.”

As yet there have been no headline-grabbing major signings by Slovan, but all this could change in the very near future: club general manager Maros Krajci has put hope in the hearts of those fans yearning to see their club sign two of Slovakia’s 2002 World Championship winning heroes, forwards Miroslav Satan and Zigmund Palffy. Krajci has announced that talks will get underway with both players very soon. And even without a contract, Satan is already helping Slovan as part of the club’s marketing plan: as you read these words, all of Bratislava is putting up portraits of the legendary attacker, adorned with the message: “Welcome to the Slovnaft Arena and the KHL.”

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl made its long-awaited return to top-level hockey action in Moscow on Wednesday, taking on CSKA in a pre-season challenge game.

It was planned as a low-key affair, with little pre-publicity to lure sports fans away from the Olympic coverage on a sweltering evening, there was still an impressive crowd to welcome head coach Tom Rowe’s new-look roster to “The Loko Family”.

More than 100 Loko fans gathered outside the arena after the game to greet their new heroes prior to the team’s training camp in Switzerland, and spirits were hardly dampened by CSKA’s 4-1 win in a gentle pre-season warm-up.

The Mikhail Anisin saga seems to be at an end – and the star of last season’s play-offs looks to be staying with Dynamo Moscow.

Anisin was the leading goalscorer in the play-offs, helping Dynamo to its first trophy since 2005, after moving to the capital from Vityaz Chekhov in January.
But plans to make the move permanent stalled over the summer as the player and the club thrashed out the terms of the contract – with Anisin’s representatives hinting that the 24-year-old might try his luck in North America if a suitable deal could not be done. The situation was complicated by changes in the top management of the Blue-and-Whites, with president Mikhail Tyurin being replaced by Arkady Rotenberg.

Happily, however, Sovietsky Sport reported that an agreement had been reached between Anisin and Rotenberg, and the player is expected to join the team at a training camp in Pinsk, Belarus, this weekend.

And with the man himself admitting that he had missed being part of the squad, all sides were keen to smooth over the protracted negotiations. Tyurin, who remained party to the talks despite stepping down as president, told the newspaper that the scandal was “fabricated” and confirmed that the agreed contract was in line with the club’s planned expenditure. “Despite the changed circumstances, Dynamo will not enter into a contract ‘arms race’,” he said.
And the player’s father, three-time world champion Vyacheslav Anisin, described the outcome as “the right resolution” after Mikhail put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Among the other confirmed transfers this week, double Gagarin Cup winner Alexei Badyukov is on the move having signed a one-year contract with SKA St. Petersburg. Badyukov was with Ak Bars Kazan for the triumphant 2009 and 2010 seasons, before going to CSKA Moscow.

Newcomer Donbass Donetsk has signed Czech forward Lukas Kaspar from Barys Astana. Kaspar spent two seasons in Kazakhstan, scoring 74 (36+38) points in 103 regular season matches.

Atlant Moscow Region added forward Alexei Mikhnov to the roster, signing him from Metallurg Magnitogorsk on a two-year deal. Metallurg has signed Cal O’Reilly from NHL outfit Pittsburgh Penguins to replace Mikhnov.

Meanwhile Vityaz Chekhov has added 27-yer-old American forward Josh Hennessy to the ranks. Hennessy emerged through Boston Bruins organization, but made just three appearances for the senior team.

And Avangard Omsk is keeping it in the family following the arrival of Viktor Perezhogin from MHL side Amursky Tigry. Viktor’s big brother Alexander was one of the stars of Avangard’s play-off campaign, and went to the World Championship with Russia this summer.

I doslo je i to vreme! Konacno se hokej vraca! Nakon nesto vise od cetiri meseca od onog pobedonosnog gola Jakuba Klepisa, kojim je Dinamo iz Moskve postao sampion KHL-a, krecemo u novi lov na najpozeljniji hokejaski trofej u Evropi. Neke ekipe vise nisu clanovi Kontinentalne hokejaske lige,njih su zamenili neki novi timovi. Medjutim svakako najvise paznje privlaci povratak Lokomotive, nakon one velike tragedije na pocetku prosle sezone. Pored novo-stare Lokomotive, ove sezone cemo uzivati i uz Donbasa iz Donjecka,Slovana iz Bratislave i Lev iz Praga. Nazalost ove sezone necemo gledati Lev iz Popranda. Sto znaci da ce liga sada imati 26 timova,a ne kao prosle sezone, 23. Mnoga pitanja se vrte i u centru su paznje. Da li moze SKA iz Sant Petersburga konacno da titule? Koji je domet Lokomotive nakon one strasne tragedije? Sta mogu novi timovi? Da li moze Dinamo iz Moskve da ponovi onako sjajan plejof,kao prosle godine?
Odgovore na sva ova pitanja mocicete naci samo na Sport klubu,jer i ove sezone prenosimo najbolje sto Evropa ima da ponudi u hokeju.
Situacija sa NHL lokautom je sve ozbiljnija,pa su neke svetske zvezde najavile dolazak u Evropu. Medju njima su Patrik Kejn, Sidni Krozbi i drugi.
Nova sezona pocinje, kako se stara zavrsila, reprizom finala izmedju Dinama iz Moskve i Avangarda (Sport Klub direktno!). Utakmica se igra u utorak, cetvrtog septembra, sa pocetkom od 17:30 casova. Regularna sezona ce trajati sve do 17. februara. U regularnoj sezoni ce se odigrati 676 utakmica. Svaka ekipa ce odigrati 52 utakmice u regularnoj sezoni,a osam najuspesnijih iz svake koferencije idu u plejof. Doigravanje (plejof) je slican tom delu takmicenja,kao u NHLu. Igra se na cetiri pobede,eliminacioni sistem. Prvo se igra cetvrtfinale koferencija,potom polufinale,pa finale koferencije. Pobednici koferenija igraju veliko finale za Gagarin kup!

Nakon izuzetno zanimljive reprize finala,koja je otvorila ovu sezonu (Dinamo Moskva-Avangard 3:2 pen),moze se nagovestiti izuzetno zanimljiva sezona. Juce je Amur pobedio Atlanta sa 3:1,a CSKA je izgubio od Spartaka golom Stanislava Zhmakina.

Konano je pocelo! Moram reci da sam odusevljen sto ima ovoliko prenosa, a ne kao prosle godine samo jedna utakmica nedeljno. Nadam se da cete tako i nastaviti. I ove sezone navijam za SKA, ekipu iz najlepseg grada na svetu. Liga je prosirena, timovi poprilicno izjednaceni, tako da verujem da ce biti veoma interesantno. Raduje i cinjenica da se Lokomotiva vratila, a sudeci po pocetku ponovo ce imati zapazenu ulogu u prvenstvu. Pozdrav svim ljubiteljima hokeja na ledu!

Definitivno ce Loko igrati vaznu ulogu u KHL,ali mogu li do samog kraja...? Po meni jako tesko.

Danas dve odlicne utakmice na Sport Klubu! Avangard - Salavat i Atlant - Amur. Posebno mi je drago sto se prenosi Amur, solidan tim sa dalekog istoka. Mada po mom misljenju pravi derbi danas igraju Traktor i SKA. Dve mozda trenutno najofanzivnije ekipe u ligi pa na tom mecu ocekujem pregrst golova. Verujem da su mnogi poznavaoci hokeja prosle godine ocekivali duel ovih timova u finalu, ali to se nije desilo. Mozda ove godine? Licno, voleo bih da tako bude!

Zamolio bih nekog ko je upucen da mi objasni zasto nema prenosa KHL-a ove nedelje, a koliko vidim nema nikakvih najava ni za sledecu. Liga nikad jaca, vrhunski igraci su se vratili iz NHL-a, a mi smo ostali uskraceni za to. Tu su mozda najbolji igraci danasnjice, Dacjuk, Malkin, Kovaljcuk, Oveckin i drugi i zaista bi bilo uzivanje gledati ih kako igraju u svojoj zemlji.

Evo danas je na programu Dinamo Moskva - SKA, jedan od najvecih derbija lige i duel dve velike zvezde Oveckina i Kovaljcuka! Velika je steta sto se ovaj mec ne prenosi!
