Fenerbahce president Ali Koc discussed the economical debt problems the basketball department of the club faces. The newly elected president of the Turkish powerhouse admitted that there were players on the team that were late with their salaries.
Koc also mentioned that the new Fenerbahce board has ensured team head coach Zeljko Obradovic that this salary issue is solved but he is feeling ashamed because they were late on it.
“We made a promise to Zeljko Obradovic about payments will be made in time. But we could not. I feel shamed by Obradovic because we could not make the payment of salaries in time.” Koc said in the “Camiaya Seslenis” show of Fenerbahce TV.
“The first payment we made as the new board was the Final Four tickets since they were not paid during the stint of the former board,” Koc added.
Koc also revealed that the debt of the basketball department (Men and Women teams) is 48 million Turkish liras (around 8,49 million euros)
